This guide walks you through creating a "Frequently Bought Together" bundle that increases average order value by suggesting complementary products.

Step 1: Create a New Widget

  1. Go to Bundles in the sidebar

  2. Click Create Bundle

  3. Select Frequently Bought Together (Modern) or Frequently Bought Together (Classic) as the bundle type

  4. Give your bundle a name (e.g., "Jewelry Collection Bundle")

Step 2: Connect a Data Rule

Data rules determine which products appear in your bundle.

  1. Go to the Settings tab

  2. Under Connected Data Rules, select an existing data rule from the dropdown

  3. Set the Product Limit (maximum number of products to display)

    • Modern layout: Up to 3 products

    • Classic layout: Up to 100 products

  4. Click Save

Note: Data Rules are created and configured separately in the Data Rules section. If you don’t have any data rules yet, create one first.

Important: Bundles without a connected Data Rule will not be displayed on your storefront.

Step 3: Choose Layout Style

Go to the Settings tab and expand Layout Settings:

Layout Type

  • Modern - Card-based product display with prominent images and sleek checkbox selection

  • Classic - Amazon-style horizontal arrangement with plus signs between products

Step 4: Set Up Tiered Discounts

Go to Settings and expand Discount Behavior:

  1. Toggle Enable Tiered Discounts to on

  2. Click Add Tier to create discount tiers

  3. For each tier, configure:

    • Tier Label - Display text (e.g., "Buy 2, Save 10%")

    • Required Items - Number of items needed for this tier

    • Discount Type - Percentage or Fixed Amount

    • Discount Value - The discount amount

    • Discount Message - Message shown in cart

Example setup:

  • Tier 1: Buy 2 items β†’ 10% off

  • Tier 2: Buy 3+ items β†’ 15% off

Step 5: Save and Publish

  1. Click Save Changes

  2. Toggle status to Live

  3. Copy the Widget ID from the widget editor

  4. Add the widget to your theme using the Shopify theme editor
